Even if your exotic family member appears healthy, the nuances of creating the ideal environment that meets your pet’s specific needs and promotes a long, physically and psychologically healthy life, requires a level of expertise and experience that is hard to find. With a combined half a century studying these animals in the wild and caring for them in captivity, and a decade and a half in exotics specialty veterinary practice, we have developed a comprehensive approach to their care that factors in natural history, biology, and the latest research to give your pet the best chance of thriving in the environment you create.
We review and help you to alter or create the best captive habitat and care possible for your pet. Everything to ensure your pet’s well-being, from cleaning protocols, substrate, safe plants, cage furnishings, visual barriers, bioactivity, spatial considerations, enrichment, temperature, lighting, diet, social interactions, and supplements will be covered. We also address more specific concerns associated with things like reproduction, cohabitation, biosecurity, minimizing stress, and implementing a home recovery plan after veterinary care. We are here for the long-haul to help you implement our recommendations, troubleshoot, and support you and your pets every step of the way.
This consultation includes up to one year of ongoing support (or up to 50 email responses).

Comprehensive Consultation Subscription Service $175/month or $2000/year
This option offers all of our remote services, with the addition of text messaging! You will have unlimited email and text messaging access along with four phone calls and one video chat each month (phone/video limited to 9AM-5PM CST). This is perfect for multi-pet homes, or those that need a bit more. Your own personal pet expert at your disposal for every eventuality!
Boarding and Pet Sitting
Follow-Up, In-Home Veterinary Care & Transport
If your pet needs on-going, at-home follow-up medical care (as per your veterinarian), we can provide this in the comfort of your home! Whether it is medication (oral, injectable or topical), fluid therapy, suture removal, nutritional support (syringed or gavaged feedings), bandage changes, medicated baths, or sample collection, our pros offer top notch care for your furred, feathered, or scaled family members without the stress of an unnecessary hospital visit. Our team will also happily communicate directly with your veterinarian to simplify things if desired. We also offer transport to/from your veterinarian.
Grooming
Grooming can be a very stressful event for many exotic pets. Let us take some of that stress away by coming to you for in-home grooming of all species, including beak trims, nail trims, wing trims, bathing, and haircuts!
Exhibit Design & Maintenance
Are you having trouble finding the right things to set up your new paludarium? Can’t find the right plants for your vivarium? The right background for your terrarium? Is maintaining your pet’s enclosure too much on top of your busy schedule? Let us shoulder that burden! We offer interior exhibit design including everything from custom backgrounds, 3D inserts, hand sculpted faux rocks and logs, bioactive setup, live plants, to water features and more. And if cleaning filters, maintaining environmental parameters, performing water changes, etc. is too much, we are here to help with maintenance as well.
Gardening for your Pet
Let The Other Pets’ horticultural specialist help to create and plant a species-specific garden, hosting food plants for your herbivorous or omnivorous pets. If you want a garden for your guinea pigs, beds for your bunnies, boxes for your beardies, or a plot for your parrot, we’re here to help! We can also help if you’d like to create a garden space to invite native wildlife into your yard and support the conservation of local species. We can simply help you plan and advise from afar, or we can do it all from start to finish, so that you and your pet can experience the joy of farm to table in a whole new way.
